Metallic Gold Wedding Cake

A metallic gold wedding cake! I so love metallic cakes don't you? Who doesn't love gold? This is your cake! A golden quadruple layer wedding cake cinched with a pink flower and feather (and a rhinestone brooch!) The cake is golden fondant by Sweet Art Bakery, photo by Katie Cassidy Photography. It's wrapped in a chiffon and lace sash. The cake was designed by Emily Riggs Bridal. This cake is both romantic and beautiful, what bride could ask for more!

For more metallic look cakes with a variety of looks see: Metallic Gold Wedding Cake, or Gold Leaf Wedding Cake Extravagant and Elegant or Gold Embossed Wedding Cake or Dessert Gold.

Above: Silver Wedding Cake shown on Style Me Pretty

Finding the perfect wedding cake is never easy. There are just too many choices and too many cake toppers out there! How to choose? And what flavor?  You could put on ten pounds just taste testing them all!
I was at a tasting (yes, another one!) a few months ago at The Ballrooms of Boothwyn in Boothwyn PA run by Lia's Catering. One of the bakers there had a pumpkin flavored cake--totally to die for! If you are planning an autumn wedding it would be the perfect choice!

In general I prefer cakes without fondant icings but sometimes the designs just call for it and won't work using any other base. If I'm choosing a basic flavor I like pound cake with either raspberry or lemon filling in it. (I know, not too exciting, but I want cake guests will enjoy eating!)

Whether you like the gold, the silver or the bronze looks, there is sure to be a metallic wedding cake that is perfect for you.

But the metallic look shown is so... appealing! I want it. Look through the metallic choices and see if one if for you. Whatever your choice, take the time to look at the metallic cakes, and fall in love! Even if they just end up on your Pinterest board!

Light and Airy Petals On You Wedding Cake!

Source: luxefinds.com via Tavin on Pinterest

This cake and it's layers of petals is light and airy. Shown on a white cake stand with an additional 'stand' with a chocolate brown edged cake plate that shows off the light and fragile petals. Not sure how well they hold up when you cut it but it will look great as it sits there waiting to be cut! (Or smashed into an unsuspecting groom's face!)

Peas?

Source: google.com via Melissa on Pinterest

OK, I admit, the floral design is pretty, but please! The green pea color...reminds me of baby food! Yuck! What do you think? Am I just 'out of it?' Or do you prefer a different color icing?

I mean, I can handle the small edging in green, and even the stems, but the fondant? and the cupcake icing, sorry, not for me! Love to hear what you think though!

Textured Wedding Cake For The Modern Bride

Source: google.com via Bridget on Pinterest

All you need is LOVE and this textured wedding cake. The copy of the LOVE sculpture from Philadelphia tops this simple cake with a unique design for the modern bride. If you live or are getting married in Philadelphia this cake topper is perfect.  Covered in textured fondant and made with any flavor and filling you like, this cake won't upstage the bride and groom but will accent their reception.

Found this on Pinterest, the only link is Google.com, so if anyone knows the real source or cake designer let me know.

Twilight Cake? Black and White Your Thing? Here You Go!

This cake is perfect for a black and white theme wedding (or if you are doing a Twilight wedding).  Four tiers of multiple layers each, surrounded by black lace, topped with a red flower. If you are a DIYer you may be able to pull this off yourself, personally it's outside my skill set, I'd take it to the baker.  But you or one of your 'crafty' friends may be able to do this themselves.  Worse for me than making it, is trying to transport it without disaster! Let me know if you DIY, tell us all how you did it and how you transported it.  Photo courtesy of Wedding Bee.

Metallic Gold Wedding Cake

Fall in love with this golden metallic wedding cake! I love the textures of each layer, not sure what it would taste like but I'm almost willing to give up great tasting icing for this glam look. Made by Sugar Couture and seen in Brides.com. This is definitely NOT a DIY wedding cake!

THE Cake!

Like the look of this cake? I fell in love at first sight! (apologies to my husband!) It's the perfect cake for a wedding with an off white gown.  Or for a beach wedding (don't the decorations look just like the ocean waves?)  OK, maybe it's just me! But I hope you'll love this cake as much as I do.  Photo courtesy of The Knot.

Strawberries and Cake--All in One Bite! Plus a Giveaway Link!

(Just a heads up...I couldn't decide where to post this on my cake blog or my diy blog so it's in both places, if you already read it in my DIY Wedding Planning blog, just skip over, or enjoy the eye candy!)

As you may know from reading my blog I am hooked on strawberries--I eat them plain, use them in recipes, on recipes, and turn them into drinks--you name it, I've done it to or with strawberries! (Hmm..that sounded weird, but I think you know what I mean!) I found this recipe on Taste and Tell, a great cooking blog that you'll want to bookmark or follow so you don't miss any recipes they have! This recipe for Strawberry Shortcake Cake Bites not only tasted good it looked pretty as well!

I like cake bites for weddings or showers because they are so EASY! Easy to make, easy to eat...and face it, they just taste good. Not to mention being perfect as wedding favors or on a sweet table. As the writers at Taste and Tell note, some of them are just a little too sweet so sometimes I have to adjust the recipes to suit my taste buds or change the icing on them so they don't make my teeth hurt from the sweetness. So head over and take a look at the recipe for the Strawberry Shortcake Cake Bites, it's a perfect time of the year to make these, especially if you've just been strawberry picking and have lots of berries--this gives you something new to make with them!

Taste and Tell suggests a book all about cake bites called 101 Gourmet Cake Bites that they're running a giveaway for until August 12th, so get your chance for a free book--what could be better than free? So yet another reason to read their blog! (And enter their giveaway!)

Grand Marnier Flavored Wedding Cake

My mouth is watering just thinking about this wedding cake.  This recipe is for a wedding cake made with Grand Marnier flavored whipped cream and Grand Marnier flavored jam filling ....YUM!

If you don't want to flavor your cake with this tasty liqueur consider serving it over some French Vanilla Ice Cream or over fresh fruit.  The uses for Grand Marnier at your wedding are limitless.  Talk to the chef at your venue for more ideas to incorporate the orange flavor of Grand Marnier into your wedding menu.  Use it to glaze chicken? Make salad dressings, the list just goes on and on.

If you just enjoy Grand Marnier at home, try this link for a recipe for DIY orange liqueur.  Have the fun of making it and then enjoy drinking it or cooking with it.
