I Heart This Cake!

Wedding cakes come decorated in a variety of ways, from flowers to fondant, but the simple pink heart added to the side of this one really caught my eye.  How about you?  What kind of cake are you having? Flavor? Filling? Icing? Fondant? Fancy or plain? Post and let us know.

Heart Wedding Cake

All Photos and design from The Art of The Wedding Cake

Cake designer Erica O'Brien posted a tutorial on how to make this unique cake on her site The Art of The Wedding Cake.  The gradation of colors from dark to light give this cake a 'WOW' factor.  Not only that, Erica shows you how to make some extra hearts to use as favors for either a wedding, shower or even a little girl's birthday party.

Using Wilton Meringue, 2 Cups of sugar, warm water, paste food coloring, a large cutting board, parchment paper, and Ateco aspic cutters or small cookie cutters. Visit Erica's site for exact directions as well as additional 'how to' photos.  (You can pick up most of these items at your local craft store.)

I didn't try to make a wedding cake but did make some of the hearts, it's easy and was an afternoon of fun.  I used them to decorate some cupcakes since I didn't need a three tier wedding cake! Give it a try!

Peacock Blue Weddings

This peacock blue wedding these with it's dramatic cake complete with gold trim will make your wedding memorable.  Take your wedding a la Bollywood with these jewel tones edged with gold.  Glitz, glam and unusual.

Before you commit to using a peacock theme for your wedding, be aware that some countries and cultures peacocks are considered bad luck.  So research the cultural attitudes of your guests before you commit to a peacock themed wedding.

Cupcakes Front and Centerpiece?

Photo from Alli's Cakes

I know I've posted about using cupcakes as centerpieces before, either as cupcake topiary or that all time favorite, the watering can filled with mini-cupcakes topped with pink roses, but Alli's Cakes from Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire in England has brought it to a whole new level.

Lucky the English bride who can contact Alli to make some of her unique cupcakes that double as a centerpiece and either wedding cake or favor. Alli's telephone number is 07772533086 and they're open six days a week until 7 PM.

Alli doesn't just make these centerpieces, she can also make a whole sweet table display with cupcakes for each of your guests with a single large cupcake for the bride and groom to slice.  So Brit brides give Alli a call.  The rest of us will have to admire from afar!

THE Cake!

Like the look of this cake? I fell in love at first sight! (apologies to my husband!) It's the perfect cake for a wedding with an off white gown.  Or for a beach wedding (don't the decorations look just like the ocean waves?)  OK, maybe it's just me! But I hope you'll love this cake as much as I do.  Photo courtesy of The Knot.

Peacocks?

In love with peacocks? This incredible cupcake carries the theme right through to your sweet table!  A cupcake in the shape of a peacock! Possibly the most creative cupcake I've seen!
